Waxing classes are fun but dirty!!

Yup, you got the title right!  Waxing classes that I teach in Orange County, Los Angeles or San Diego are great fun and should always be kept clean don’t you agree?   But, sometimes this isn’t always the case …..

Not only do I love to teach my Esthetician students how to wax safely, but I also like to point out the simple mistakes that they sometimes make when waxing!    Waxing sanitation!

Now, we all know already that double dipping wax is  a “no, no”, but did you know that your work station and the surrounding areas in your waxing room also need to be kept just as clean as your wax pots!?

All waxing strips and sticks should be thrown away immediately or placed on a SMA.   Forgotten what your SMA is?   Your SMA is your “Sanitary Maintenance Area”.   Your SMA is a large enough piece of disposable paper that is kept onto your towel/work area that holds any implement or product that has come into contact with the clients skin.  This SMA is to be thrown away after every single client and replaced with a new SMA before clean and sanitized tools or fresh wax strips/sticks are placed on it!

State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology require all technicians to have a SMA at every work station.

As you will see from the picture below the soiled wax strip drifted over onto an area where there was no SMA.

So, not only do I love to take pictures of my smiley students all happy and waxing, but I also like to sneak a pic of the dirty mistakes that sometimes happen!

All for  constructive criticism I might add!!
